With the Lake Louise Jacket you can easily take a fall trip to Canada with a detour to the Icefields Parkway. The outdoor jacket is windproof, waterproof and breathable. With these properties, the jacket is of course also ideal during a spring walk in our own country. The jacket is made of recycled polyester and has two outer pockets and an inner pocket. In addition, the jacket has a waist cord, which means that the jacket can be adjusted individually.
The water-repellent capacity of clothing is often described in the form of millimeters of water column. The water column says something about the amount of water pressure a substance can have per square centimeter before it starts to leak. This jacket has a water column of 20,000 mm. This means that the substance leaks through when it is under pressure from 20 meters of water.
Polyester is a synthetic material made from petroleum. It is a durable, smooth fabric that feels soft. In addition, it is lightweight, does not need to be ironed and dries quickly. A disadvantage of polyester is that it does not absorb moisture well, is not very warm and does not breathe very well. Polyester is also, like many other materials, harmful to the environment. It is not biodegradable and contributes to the plastic soup in the ocean. However, polyester can be recycled very well. The use of recycled polyester reduces both waste and the dependence on petroleum as a source. Recycled polyester is therefore a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative.
The Lake Louise Jacket is produced without the use of environmentally polluting fluorocarbons (PFCs). The use of PFCs in the textile finish ensures that clothing becomes water, dirt and grease repellent. An alternative finish without the use of PFCs has been used in the Lake Louise Jacket. This makes the product water and dirt repellent. Only an oil repellent effect cannot currently be achieved with a PFC-free finish.
The BlueSign label indicates that no harmful substances have been used in the production process. Companies with a BlueSign label are obliged to draw up a sustainability plan that pays attention to water consumption, energy consumption and waste management. BlueSign also has guidelines for safe and healthy working conditions, but this is not specifically checked.
Fair Wear Foundation is committed to better working conditions. They have developed a code of conduct for this. Companies that are members of the Fair Wear Foundation must commit themselves to improving working conditions.
