Nubuck leather

The outer material of the Gritstone Lady II LL is made of nubuck leather. Nubuck leather comes from the lightly sanded top layer of the animal hide. Sanding makes the leather feel softer, increases breathability and gives the leather a velvety appearance. Nubuck leather can be waxed, but it can also be left untreated. If you wax nubuck leather, it will become darker, smoother and shinier. When you spray nubuck leather with a spray containing wax, you treat this material in the best way.

Chrome-free leather

The liner of the Gritstone Lady II LL is made of chrome-free leather. Leather is often tanned using chromium-containing minerals. People who are sensitive to chromium can suffer from allergic contact eczema when they come into contact with this leather. Chrome-free leather is tanned without the use of chromium-containing minerals. Hikers with an allergy to chromium will therefore not suffer from contact dermatitis when wearing these hiking boots .
