Primus Winter Gas is made in such a way that it works effectively down to -22°C. With a gas cartridge heater, it is always the case that the lower the temperature, the worse the performance of the heater. The main innovation behind Primus Winter Gas in cold weather is the Vapor Mesh, a highly absorbent paper in the cartridge that keeps the pressure higher, making the stove run better. The VaporMesh increases the surface area on which the liquid fuel can vaporize to gaseous form. The surface makes the transition from liquid to gas faster and the speed of this process determines the pressure in the pattern. Compared to previous cartridges, this works better in conditions where it was previously difficult to use fuels.
