There is a 100 gram block in this practical FjällRäven Greenland Wax Bag drawstring storage pouch, made of G-1000. On the inside you will find the waxing instructions.

The FjällRäven Greenland Wax Bag is made of G-1000 Original with a natural-colored leather label on the front. Here you can safely store your wax block in a water-repellent, so that you can wax your G-1000 clothing anytime and anywhere. The waxing instructions are printed on the inside of the pouch. The wax bag is produced from the material that is left over when we manufacture our G-1000 products. For this reason, the color of the Greenland Wax Bag is different every time.
Greenland Wax is a pure natural product, made from beeswax and paraffin. The supplied 100 gram block is enough to wax about ten garments. By varying the amount of wax you can adapt the function of the G-1000 garment or product to different weather conditions and activities. For instance:
- Hiking without a backpack: Reinforce the seams with wax to make the jacket extra waterproof and durable.
- Hiking with a backpack: Wax the front of the jacket. Your body heat is dissipated at the back and the front protects you against wind and weather.
- Hiking in warm climates. Wash the garment at 40 degrees in the washing machine. The result is an airy and comfortable garment that ventilates optimally.
G-1000 clothing is windproof, quick-drying and very durable. By impregnating your garments with Greenland Wax:
- Can you adapt them to various weather conditions and activities
- Do you make the clothing water and dirt repellent?
- Increases the durability and longevity of a garment
Waxing G-1000 products
A lot of wax makes a garment strong and resistant to wind and weather. And when you wash clothes again, you get a cooler garment with good breathability. After two or three washes, you can wax your clothes again.
- Application: Rub the block of Greenland Wax over the fabric in long strokes to create a thin, even layer. Make sure to impregnate all parts of the fabric.
- Melting: You can melt the wax into the dust in three ways, wax melts at a temperature of about 55-60 °C. The first way is with an iron on a low setting with no power. Don't forget to clean the iron before using it on another garment. The second way is with a hair dryer. The third way is over a camping burner. Hold the garment a few inches above the flames and rock it back and forth. Start far away and slowly get closer until you see the wax melt. Make sure it doesn't burn.
Tip: Do you want to make the fabric more water-repellent? Then it is better to repeat the waxing a few times instead of applying a thick layer. This is useful for vulnerable parts in the clothing, such as the hood and shoulders (if you are wearing a backpack), knees and seat.
Note: G-1000 garments with down or synthetic filling and garments with a hydratic lining or a combination of fabrics should be waxed with extra care.
